CPD for Higher Court Advocates
CPD year: 1 November - 31 October
CPD hours/points required per year: 16.
In the first 5 years after obtaining the Higher Rights qualification, these 16 hours must include a minimum of 5 hours of advocacy training.
CPD for Barristers
CPD year: 1 January - 31 December
CPD hours required per year: 12 (for barristers who have completed their first three years of practice and completed the new practitioners programme).

Advocates who qualify through the ILEX Advocacy Qualification Scheme will be required to undertake CPD each year in advocacy to renew their certificates. The first renewal will also require a submission of a portfolio showing the advocacy undertaken during the first 12 months.
