Transitional arrangements apply to candidates who have already started the training and assessment under the old 2000 regulations.
The development route will only continue under the old regime until 31 March 2012, and there will be no necessity to complete a portfolio. Candidates who applied under the accreditation route (2000 Regulations) before 31 March 2010 will have either 2 years from the date of issue on their certificate of eligibility or until 31 March 2012 to complete their qualification.*
Candidates who have already commenced training and/or assessment under the old regime may, if they prefer, recommence qualification under the new regulations. Those who choose to do this will not receive any formal credit for the training they have already undertaken.
* Subject to demand, we will continue to run training and assessments under the 2000 Regulations (alongside assessments under the new regime) to enable candidates who are part way through their qualification to progress.
PLEASE NOTE: We have arranged a Stage 1 (EPE) re-sit exam for the 31 March 2011, allowing those who have yet to pass stage 1 an opportunity to do so. This exam will run in London, but can be arranged elsewhere in house if required - please enquire for more details.
The training and assessment under transitional arrangements will continue to be led by our team of experienced tutors including Roy Morgan (criminal), Andrew Shanahan, Nadim Bashir and Chris Reeves-Croft.
Solicitors who were awarded higher rights of audience under previous regulations are still required to complete the mandatory five hours CPD requirements in the five years following the award. For a range of further advocacy courses, please see our Advocacy courses or Criminal courses sections.
PLEASE NOTE: the module information and pricing below relates to the old 2000 regulations. For more information on the training and assessments under the new 2010 regulations, please contact Jan Tiley at altiorhigherrights@kaplan.co.uk
