As the legal marketplace becomes ever more competitive, a robust and effective strategy is increasingly important. Crafting and implementing strategy in a law firm environment offers some unique challenges, and the application of classic theory often falls down. This course takes proven tools and techniques, and tailors them in a way that makes them applicable and effective for lawyers and law firms. The principles taught are applicable to both firms and practice areas or industry groups within law firms, and the session involves a blend of business-school style tuition and case study work, enhanced by facilitated discussion.
Key benefits By the end of the course, delegates will be able to: • Understand the different levels of strategy and the ways in which strategy is formed and, in particular, the impact of the law firm environment on these two topics • Understand how to interpret information gathered in the strategic analysis phase in order to create an effective competitive strategy • Use scenario planning to stress test strategies and broaden thinking • Identify barriers to implementation and create a plan which removes or mitigates them • Consolidate the internal and external analysis using SWOT • Engage more effectively with clients as a result of broader strategic understanding
