Trainee Litigation Programme
Our Trainee Litigation Programme is open to all trainee solicitors and is designed to expose trainees to the practice skills specified in the SRA’s requirements for the contentious seat of the training contract.
The comprehensive programme builds on the foundation of litigation knowledge gained on the LPC and the Advocacy and Communication Skills module of the PSC.
The course is designed to replicate life in a typical litigation seat and you will be running several realistic case studies and receiving tuition and feedback on how best to deal with the litigation issues that raise themselves.
The tuition element of the programme is based around a commercial case study, and is designed to replicate the kind of experience which a typical trainee from a commercial firm would face in a contentious seat. You will also have the opportunity to undertake court visits to observe experienced practitioners at work.
The classroom element can also be run in house. If this is of interest to your firm, please contact us.
As part of your week you will also run a case based on real life cases from our Pro Bono centre. You will take instructions from a professional role player as the client and then deal with the issues and legal problems that are raised. You will be expected to make decisions and deal with the case as if you were the litigator in the case.
Drawing on Kaplan Altior’s expertise as a leading provider of advocacy and litigation skills training, the programme will be led by our experienced team of trainers, all of whom have extensive contentious and advocacy experience.
