As England's cricket team battles it out in the test against South Africa next month, one of the UK's leading legal consultants will be heading out there to share his own experiences with the country's legal profession.
John Loosemore, top legal practice management consultant and chairman of leading UK legal training provider altior, will be holding seminars in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg during January for both South African and British lawyers and practice managers.
As well as speaking across the UK and Europe on the latest legal issues, John has travelled further around the globe from Australia and Hong Kong to Bermuda and the USA, sharing his 30 years' experience in law and comparing practices with colleagues of many nationalities.
The one-day seminar, entitled 'How to market your law firm', is designed to equip delegates with new ideas and plans to ensure the successful growth of their firm.
"Across the world, the legal profession is facing the same challenge - learning to adapt to a new climate of increasing competition," said John, who set up altior 25 years ago and is a former managing partner of his own law firm. He is also an ex-club cricket captain and still an ardent cricket fan.
"As well as highlighting some UK law firms who have used marketing very effectively, we'll be exploring the best ways to promote your firm, how to get to know your market and how to focus on marketing.
"It's a fairly relaxed day that's aimed at keeping people up-to-date on this globally topical issue. It's also a great opportunity for any British lawyers who are visiting South Africa for the test to brush up on the latest legal thinking in between matches!"
