Media release
Issued: Tuesday January 4th 2005

altior Consulting and Training, one of the UK's leading legal training and consulting providers, has launched a new specialist legal recruitment division.

altior Legal Recruitment will offer specialist recruitment services to law firms, legal service providers and candidates looking for a new role at all levels in the industry from legal secretaries to managing partners. It will also include non-fee earning roles, such as marketing, IT and human resources, specifically for the legal sector, to cater for growing employer demand for non-fee earners with experience in the sector.

It will be offering candidates and employers the full spectrum of personal recruitment services from database searches to advanced search and selection and comprehensive advertising campaigns.

The move is altior's first major development outside its core training business since top UK sports lawyer Mark Loosemore joined as chief executive last August and the new division will be headed up by altior's new legal recruitment manager, Penny Francis, who has eight years experience in the recruitment industry, including time with a leading national high street recruiter in Cardiff.

Mark Loosemore believes the new division will serve a growing niche market and help to attract Welsh lawyers working in London back to Wales. "Through our work with law firms here, we've identified a gap for a high profile and top quality legal recruitment service provider in Wales. altior Legal Recruitment will combine altior's 25 years working closely with the legal profession with Penny's experience in the recruitment industry to provide a first-class, confidential service to fill that gap.

"Law firms can see that there are very clear opportunities to develop the legal market in Wales and increasingly require more fee-earning and non-fee earning personnel. And we're hoping that with the launch of this service, we can encourage more Welsh lawyers to return home."

Penny Francis studied law and politics at Cardiff University and spent time as a legal executive at Eversheds, before starting her career in recruitment.

Penny said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us to develop the legal recruitment market in Wales. altior already has a strong brand in the legal training and consulting market and we're confident that this brand - and its solid reputation - will be easily transferred into the legal recruitment sector too."
