Business development - a wealth of opportunity

The current market is revealing that clients will assume technical knowledge when choosing a firm, and will base their decision on other factors such as: how firms present their service offering, whether a firm can add value to a business and how well firms and their staff differentiate themselves from other lawyers.
altior have responded to this by offering tailored in-house training in all areas of business development, from networking to presentation skills; understanding your sector, to creating a winning bid and all-important pitch team presentation. We are very pleased to have a trainer on board who has more than a decade of experience in developing new business for international professional services firms and has coached at many levels of experience.

Appraisals and Team Leadership

At a time of year when many law firms turn their attention to appraisals and objective setting for the coming year, how many of them have considered if their managers and team leaders are up to the job? Are they up to speed on the latest thinking and techniques and do they understand the process of making the appraisal valuable and constructive rather than demoralising for the appraisee?
Available as new courses in 2008, both on a public basis and as in-house offerings, ‘Making Appraisals Work’, ‘Essential Coaching Skills’ and ‘Team Leadership’ (in-house only) are designed to help managers and team leaders hone their appraisal and performance management skills to develop a firm’s key asset; their people.

City focus on legal training

Due to increased demand from city clients for a city focused Professional Skills Course for trainee solicitors, altior is delighted to be running its first full city PSC this September. As a precurser to this, we will be running a city Client Care and Professional Standards module in London on 22 and 23 April 2008. The module will be specifically targeted at trainees from city or commercial firms and we would be delighted to welcome any trainees who may still have this module outstanding. Please note: this module can be booked in isolation or in combination with other elements of the PSC.
