Professional Skills Course
Introduction and course structure
The PSC is the mandatory course for all trainee solicitors and others wishing to qualify as solicitors. It consists of 3 core modules, and in addition, trainees must complete 24 hours of electives, of which at least 12 hours must be face to face tuition. FCILEX and some Magistrates' Court Clerks are exempt from the electives.
As outlined by the SRA, the PSC should be completed within a trainee's 2 year training contract or within a period of recognised training. The rules were updated in July 2014 and you can read more about it here.
In order to study the programme at the best pace for you, and to study your preferred choice of electives, it is always best to plan your PSC as early as you can.
